UPTET Exam Pattern 2025 – The Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) is conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board (UPBEB). It is an exam for hiring teachers in the primary(Class 1 to 5) and upper primary (Class 6 to 8). If you are an aspiring student for the UPTET Exam, then let’s understand the Exam Pattern-
Exam Mode: The UPTET exam is conducted offline, using pen and paper text. It is an objective type-based exam, candidates need to fill out OMR sheets.
Exam Duration: The UPTET exam is 2 hours and 30 minutes long for both Paper 1 and Paper 2.
Number of Papers: The UPTET exam is held in two papers-
- Paper 1: For the hiring of teachers from Class 1 to Class 5, known as Primary Level
- Paper 2: For tiring teachers from Class 6 to Class 8, known as Upper Primary Level.
Nature of Questions: Both the paper, Paper 1 and Paper 2 are multiple choice question-based. Each question of the UPTET exam is followed by four options. Candidates have to fill the circle in the OMR sheet with the correct answer.
Total Number Of Questions: Both papers 1 and 2 contain 150 questions.
Marking Scheme: Each question in the UPTET exam carries 1 mark to the result. There is no negative marking in the UPTET exam. That is why it is an easy exam.
Language of Question Paper: The UPTET exam is bilingual, which has Hindi and English both languages. Aspiring candidate can choose the preferred language as per their need

- Social Studies/Social Science (for Social Studies/Social Science teachers)
Qualifying Marks: To clear the UPTET exam, aspiring candidates need to score a minimum of 60% marks. One who belongs to the reserved categories like SC/ST, OBC, PH, and Ex-Serviceman has some kind of relaxation in the qualifying marks.
Certificate Validity: The UPTET certificate is valid for 5 years from the day of declaration of result. One who qualifies for the UPTET exam gets a teacher position under the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board
