Our University
The University of Travancore, which later became the University of Kerala, was established in 1937 by a promulgation of the Maharaja of Travancore, Sri Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma who was also the first Chancellor of the University. Sir. C P Ramaswamy Ayyar, the then Diwan of the state, was the first Vice-Chancellor. It was the sixteenth University to be set up in India and ten colleges within the state of Travancore which were affiliated to the Madras University became the affiliated colleges of the University of Travancore.
In 1957, the Kerala University Act, Act 14 of 1957, was brought into force and the University of Travancore was renamed University of Kerala. The University had three campuses located in Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam and Calicut. In 1968, the University Centre at Calicut became a full-Fledged University covering the colleges and Departments located in Thrissur, Palakkad, Calicut and Kannur Districts of Kerala. The Cochin University of Science and Technology and the Kerala Agricultural University were set up in 1971 and in 1983, the Mahatma Gandhi University was establised. With the establishment of these Univeresities, the area of the jurisdiction of the University of Kerala has been limited to Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha Districts and some parts of Pathanamthitta District.
Our Institution
The college was established in the year 2000 and is functioning in the Golden Jubilee Complex of the Kerala University in the Kariavattom campus. The institution is fast acquiring a reputation for high quality education and fabulous faculty-student rapport. The college has already benefited greatly from its location, being adjacent to the Technopark, the IT hub of the state. Facilities in the Technopark are open to students for learning and University-Industry interaction takes place regularly.
The University is taking initiatives to impart soft skills like communication skills (verbal and nonverbal) and analytical skills as per industry requirements. The college functions with the highest order of discipline so that all students are trained to excel in highly professional environments. The students of various departments organize national level technical symposiums. With the students displaying great aptitude for academic, technical, sporting and cultural endeavors along with the active support of the University, the College is on the right track to soon becoming one of the finest technical institutions in the country.
